My travel department at work tells me the Four Points Culver City has a new owner who is putting some money into it, but I do not quite believe them yet.
I would suggest calling the Delfina and trying to negeotiate a rate your company will allow. Most of the hotels here seem to go after frequent guests. I work for a large company that has national corporate rates, but a specific group within the company negeotiated their own lower rates at the Westin Century Plaza and the Ambrose in Santa Monica (they have 1-2 people here per week). Another group did their own rate with the Fairmont in Santa Monica. There are a lot of choices in Santa Monica, so I think the Delfina sales staff may be interested.
My office is really close to LAX, so people stay by the airport a lot. Great feedback on the Westin, though the rates seem to vary from week to week (one week they can get a $99 advance purchase on the day of, the next week $179 is the lowest available).
I also have a lot of respect for the LAX Sheraton staff. When I moved to LA, I was priclining LAX hotes for 2 months while I looked for a house. Ended up at the Sheraton a lot. The front desk always put me in one of the huge 1000 sq ft. corner rooms (not a suite, but suite-like) despite my $31 per night rate.
In terms of Internet, will your company pay for Verizon BroadbandAccess (EVDO service)? For $79 bucks a month, you really cannot beat it. I am getting at least 1.5 Mbps almost everywhere in west LA, usually faster.
