I second that. SFO also has some of the least return on your UA elite status investment. On weekday mornings, SFO check-in is beset with long lines for economy, for C, for elite lines. Everywhere you look are herds of cattle.

For my SFO-IAD in C on 6/13 (upgauged to a 777 ^), I was running a little late. After a quick survey of the mayhem inside, I realized the only way I was going to make it to the gate on time was to curbside check, then use the non-elite security line, which was easily 20 minutes faster than the priority line.

If I hadn't paid the $2/bag, no way I make that flight. Porters were quick to inform everyone that the $2 were going to United and not to them.
