I think most companies these days have a "buy cheapest" policy when it comes to business travel. For those who book/control their airline itineraries, how much is frequent flyer loyalty costing companies? How many people look the other way on when their preferred carrier costs appreciably more (15% + )? Not to mention the trips that pop up during promos or at the end of the year. Heck, I know plenty of people who book straight from an airlines site without even comparing.
Ours is buy cheapest within $100 of the actual cheapest. We can pick airlines and flights - or go outside the $100 if it is much more convenient. Plus, my boss hates Southwest so I never have to fly it.
