that doesn't sound good!! our friends stayed at Banyan Tree and just loved it ... that's our basis for comparison.

we are also looking at Fiji, Mauritius, Maldives and Bali..... if anyone has a killer place in one of these areas, i would also be interested in hearing about it. i've been searching around this forum quite a bit, but everyone has a different opinion!

I'm a little freaked out about Bali with the Indonesia travel warning, but it looks like a wonderful place.

Fiji has lots of private island resorts, but the price point of some ($1000+ a night) is a little prohibitive for us. I want to live well on our trip, but still be able to eat when we get home!
