Both carryon and checked bags are weighed when I checked in.

Most transpacific passengers on a major airline travel with 2 checked bags and maybe 2 carryons, one being a purse or laptop. One has to be ready to pay for your additional bags and weight.

Valid point, but I'll slightly disagree. If you are going to BKK for business the point is even more valid. If you are going to sightsee, you need 1 pair of pants, one shirt and the rest of your clothes will be shorts and tee shirts. It is 90 plus degrees and lots of humidity Every Single Day. I did 10 days there recently with a carryon and one of those rolling laptop carriers (that have a small extra compartment for socks or underwear).

Bottom line: Dont pack heavy for Thailand. Total waste of time. Hell, you could pack practically nothing and buy all the clothes you need while there for $5.99.

People, the average pay there is $3 per day. Labor intensive products like clothing costs nothing. Buy it and toss it if you like. I bought 3 tailored shirts for $15.
