Generally, it sounds like it should absolutely NOT be a problem. I guess they would really have a problem with Alaska Airlines in Phoenix. Many of their flight numbers are sequential all day long from PHX-SEA (i.e. 7am flight #720, 9am flight #722, 12noon flight #724, etc., etc.). So far, I have not seen anyone trying to get on a different flight.
