AS seems to handle Mexico and Canada just fine, and before you say "Oh c'mon, those are just Mexico and Canada - they're not international international," Alaska took on places other U.S. majors never DREAMED of serving, like Khabarovsk, Magadan, Vladivostok, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

But AS just doesn't view LGW or NRT as "their" market, really. They'll take on opportunities for expansion in the Western Hemisphere first and foremost.
