Standby - nonstop to a connecting itin

I'm booked on a 2pm LAX-YVR on AS. Would AS let me fly standby on an earlier flight with a connection (i.e. via PDX) or am I stuck flying non-stop? I realize there are several non-stops before the 2pm I'm just curious if they would even let me standby for a connecting flight. On other airlines (AA, DL) they've said "no" since there isn't a coupon for the connecting flight (even though it is all electronic).

Thanks!!
