I have a stay at PEK that consists of 1 paid corp. rate night and 4 free GC nights. I enquired about using a 4 night award for the upgrade but it seems you have to pay rack rate to use that award.

Has anyone any experience with making an award res. then oferring to pay their corp. rate in this case for all 5 nights if the hotel does a Diamond upgrade to GC ? I have the points either way but am averse to paying 20% more to use that award.

The issue it points to is the amount$ the hotel actually receives for redeeming a 60K award. I have always wondered how much they get for an award room from GP.
