No one's mentioned the Chinatown/ARTS district, right next to downtown Honolulu. It's about a four block walk from Iolani Palace or the Hawaii State Art Museum. There are a large number of art galleries, many of which sell purely local art and some of which sell local crafts. Especially worth visiting are Louis Pohl Gallery, Peggy Hopper Gallery, ARTS at Marks Garage, and Bethel Street Gallery.

Chinatown merchants also carry an interesting combination of imports and food and cooking products. There's a lot of great Chinese pottery and porcelain available here.

And don't overlook the large number of exceptional restaurants in the Chinatown area, either: Indigo, Little Village, Legends Seafood, Duc's Bistro, just to name a few. You could easily spend a day in just this shopping area alone. Enjoy your time here!
