That somebody does not want to visit a country where laws against homosexuality (althoug not really enforced) exist is one thing.
But safety/security concerns about Lebanon belong to the US-origined tales and legends.
A quick check on the interpol site reveals it:
Crime USA Lebanon
Rape 31.77 2.05
Serious Assault 318.55 264.53
Theft (all kinds) 3,804.58 546.15
Aggravated theft 889.30 81.73
Robbery and violent theft 148.50 9.50
Breaking and entering 740.80 72.23
Theft of motor cars 430.64 38.10
Other thefts 2,484.64 464.43
Well, one poster brought up again september 11 together with Lebanon. I thought FT'lers were cosmopolitan people, far away from easy stereotyping.
Well, keep it sinple and easy:
1)Lebanese dont consider themselves arabs
2) Not all arabs are muslim
3) not all muslims are (potential) terrorists
And, sept 11 was planned in germany, flight education took place in the US.
This should really be enough about politics .
To find reasonably priced flights to Lebanon this summer should be of more interest.
