Thanks for the warning. Based on what you said, two things:

1. Is that true for flights opperated by NW and VS as well?

2. I fly mostly domestic, and when Int'l it is upgrade awards. NW seems to have the best upgrade clearance rate of any domestic carrier for Silver and Gold.
