I know what I posted on that other thread about the Lebanese being a little negative, but your enthusiasm for the city honestly intrigues me.

Long, long ago, I was a member of this e-mail group with many gay muslims (don't ask how I found it or why I subscribed; it's a long story), some of whom posted from Beirut, and I seem to recall that the beach (the "corniche"?) was infamous for being a cruising spot.

As I've said before, i would think twice about such activity - for many reasons, self-preservation; concern for locals who could be arrested; etc.
