Thrilled to have stumbled on this board, not to mention this forum. Hate to admit I'm sitting here at the computer in my office a couple of blocks from the Danube - I live in Budapest now - and crying reading about places I used to go when I first came out.

That said, I'm surprised some of my old favorites have yet to appear.

Long gone but...

San Francisco: The Ambush, Scott's (pretty sure of the name, friendly neighborhood dive round the corner from Duboce Park where Sanchez starts), and of course The Balcony. And Trocadero down on 4th Street, and because they were the first gay bars I went to when I arrived in SF: Busby's on Polk Street and The City nr Bway and Columbus in North Beach (why did North Beach die out as a gay hangout?)
