not to mention when he offered me the switch everyone around me acted as if i had won the lottery. kinda embarassing.
I wouldn't say a-hole, but I don't believe that's right. He made you move not once, but twice. It doesn't matter that the first trade was for FC, you did him two favors, neither of which you had any obligation to give.
