What the heck when you put out WHINE you should put out some cheese so..........

An oldie but goodie: My Dad was bragging about how he applied for a Skymiles Amex and would get a gazillion bonus miles and then would cancel at the anniversary to avoid the annual fee.

I pointed out to him that as a Fidelity Brokerage Account holder he could apply for a free Gold Amex (classic) which would waive the annual fee for the basic Skymiles Amex and reduce the fee for the Gold Skymiles Amex to $35 from $85. No need for annual cancellation shenenigans for the basic Skymiles Amex and a good deal for the gold. Oh and Platinoids get a reduction of $135 ----> $80.

I'm sure most regulars here know this. For those who don't - my compliments.
