Once again, Aussies have to pay more for their travel to the USA because the Aussie Govt. has protected the route from competition. The cosy Qantas and United Airlines duopoly will continue with Singapore's application to fly across the Pacific from Australia rejected.

Travellers pay more per mile on this route than most other popular routes e.g. the kangaroo route (Sydney - London).

What can we Aussies do to rectify this situation? How have you gotten around this?
