I realize that you are the co-moderator but it is my understanding that we discuss GLBT travel issues here. And talking about places and people who disriminate against us is part and parcel of the forum.
Don't we want to alert readers as to how the GLBT population is treated in different countries, on different airlines, in different hotel chains, etc, etc?
I appreciate that the original poster was explaining that Lebanon might be a welcoming area for us but I also appreciate different points of view: posters who remind us that there are still laws against us in Lebanon and other posters who discuss the question of security. I pass by the ruins of the WTC weekly and am constantly reminded of how my life has changed since 9/11. The more information I have, the more educated I am in making travel plans.
I, for one, believe that keeping our heads buried in the sand is not in our best interests. When I look at many of the previous threads, I see all kinds of discussions about politics: boycotting the Cayman Islands, e.g.
IMHO I think the more politics discussed, the more knowledgeable I become.
