Rod's an Aussie, so is entitled to be knighted as a member of Her Majesty's Commonwealth, just like people such as Sir Gary Sobers and quite probably several others, none of whom I can think of.
But yes, a big ^ for Sir Rod. He has done a fantastic job which is even more remarkable given the horrendous competition and events that have occured during his reign.
