I heard this as well. Cold items will be served onboard now. Reasoning I heard is because Metroliner equipment does not have the same facilities for hot food storage/prep that the Acela equipment has. Amtrak is also reducing onboard service crews. Specifically I heard that Acela/Metroliner First Class is being reduced from three attendants to one.

Any one care to wager that hot food will not return when Acela does?
