FWIW, I wasn't suggesting you do "gay" stuff in SF - I wasn't making assumptions either way. It's just where I'd head if I were sitting at McCarran with a Lear at my disposal. There, the wine country, or farther up into the Northwest - but I don't know how these things work (how much time you have with the plane and where you can really go with it)...

Does your friend race as well? There are a few very scenic 'thons out West in August... I know people rave about Crater Lake. I'm going to hit Redwood Trails myself when I stop letting my buddies talk me into the Chicagos and Twin Cities of the world. (Nothing wrong with those, but they aren't run on the Redwood Trails. )
