Friends of mine, who are Canadian, have been trying to apply for our CC's for years. They want access to the credit cards that we offer down here - they were successful in getting Bank of America to approve them for a chequing account and then they were also offered a W-8 to apply for the Hawaiian Airlines Visa Card. They are Canadian but live in Maui, do not have a visa / permanent residency (green card) and continue to report taxes to the Canadian government; so it is difficult to be approved (or let alone get a chequing account).
