Two fairly recent examples of points posting to my account being awarded on reward stays.

a) London Hilton 5600 base points for 3 night stay so based on that a the exchange rate at the time HH must have paid the hotel about 125 pounds per night.
b) Cavalieri 3/17/05 ONE NIGHT ONLY 9000 base points, again it would appear if the assumptions posted in other threads are correct, HH paid 700 euro for my room.
Far cry from $10- $45 isnt it?
All in all for the 4 or 5 five times I have received these points the amount seemed to match some sort of prevailing rate whether rack or otherwise ( and therefore category related) and all have been much more than $100 per night.

I don't think those kind of rates can be realistic for HHonors to buy you a room.

When I had an award stay in Paris, the (imputed) rate was about 600 euros, but as the documentation wended it's way to me, it got down to about 160 or so.

I'm sure Hilton has negotiated a rate with these hotels for those times when it has to "buy" a room, and I'm also sure it's a lot less than the rack rate.

I don't know of any way to find out the exact numbers, but basing it on points awarded seems a little dodgy.

It would be nice if someone from a Hilton property could enlighten us, at least for that particular property, and we could speculate from there.
