I don't think the Kensington locks can be opened with a Bic pen... I believe the "tool" of choice is the cardboard core of a roll of toilet paper or paper towels.
There used to be a video showing a guy open a lock in seconds. If I find it somewhere, I'll post a link.
Where are you looking to secure the laptop? At the office? hotel? home? I suppose the best security would be to not leave the laptop unattended anywhere. I know that is easier said than done but I'd rather carry my laptop with me than turn my back on it even for a couple seconds while I go get a refill on my coffee.
