I just returned from CUR on Sunday. An excellent property, especially if you are divers as there is an excellent dive operation on site. They have a dive package for $179 that includes diving for two, a great bargain IMO. I had read numerous trip reports on Trip Advisor prior to going which helped quite a bit.
The only short coming of this Hotel is that the food sucks. When I read the Trip Advisor reports, I attributed this to a difference in taste between US and Euro customers as it was mainly the Euro trip reports that complained. I am from the US, near DC, and can confirm that the food at this hotel is mediocre at best. The only exception to this is the Viola Deli next to the Casino which I highly recommend for lunch. For dinner you will not find a restaurant much better than Astrolab anywhere. While it is not a L'Auberge Chez François or Inn at Little Washington, it is pretty darn close. It is located downtown at the Kurá Hulanda Hotel next to Jacobs bar.
The rooms were very nice, clean, well maintained, and we were upgraded to a OV. We found that the reports of having difficulty finding chairs at the pool/beach were just not true in our case. Perhaps at the end of December/early January, but not now. We dived in the morning and showed up at the pool in early afternoon and were always able to find numerous groups of 3 chairs to choose from. Now, if you want particular chairs in a particular location then that might be different, and if that is important to you then I would advise getting up early and claiming those prized seats. I found that pretty much all locations around the pool and beach were excellent, so that was not a factor with our experience. YMMV
