Where do I begin with CAI??? I actually took an SQ flight out of CAI back in December. I was "connecting" from BEY. BIG MISTAKE. I have never EVER seen such a mismanaged airport/system in MY LIFE!!! It was really a nightmare. I had to "grease" so many palms so I could catch my SQ flight on time (I had over 2 hours in CAI to transit through). Maybe I had a hard time because I came in from BEY and not from the EU or something... No idea... I don't really care if flights are 90% cheaper out of CAI, I will simply not fly out of there ever again!!! Unfortunately, I had to do the same thing on the way back...Agggghhhhh...

Now, having said that, a friend of mine also had a flight out of CAI. However, as you suggested, he decided to spend the night in CAI and catch a flight the next day (didn't have much of choice really due to timing). He stayed at the IC Heliopolis and had everything arranged with the hotel. Everything was super as they arranged for his visa, greeted him at the airport, transported him to the hotel and back again to the airport, etc, etc. On the way back; however, he was a transit passenger and he had a "not so interesting" experience at CAI airport waiting for his flight back to FRA.

I would not pick either the Movenpick or Novotel hotels (close to the airport). Pay more and stay somewhere decent where they can take care of you when you arrive there. That's my advise to you. IC Heliopolis is not that far from the airport and opened recently...

Hope the above helps...
