Sunday after last Thanksgiving, I did a variation of the RR-padding. Mrs. nd_eric_77 and I needed to get from RDU to LAX one-way. I had a CP for the wife, and booked her on an itinerary which went RDU-BNA-LAX, with about an hour in BNA. I booked my own itinerary RDU-BNA on one reservation, then BNA-LAX on a seperate one, and it was almost $100 cheaper than booking RDU-BNA-LAX on a single ticket. The RDU-BNA ticket was sold out on the cheapest seats, which bumped the RDU-LAX price to $299 (if I had booked as a single itinerary). Instead, I paid $119 for RDU-BNA and then $99 for BNA-LAX. We had an international flight from LAX, so we just checked our suitcases under my wife's itinerary. By doing OLCI, we both had A-group boarding passes for both flights. Hence I ended up getting 3 credits instead of 1.5.
