HFCS is quite bad for you, but no worse than sugar. To believe otherwise is another example of this country's acceptance of faith over science.
Actually, there's quite a good deal of research indicating that the body doesn't react to fructose the same way as it does to sugar (glucose), and that there are negative consequences of it:
