Two weeks ago I was in a similar situation when I had to redeem some miles for relatives for an unexpected funeral. This was in the middle of the week, but after speaking with the res agent and her supervisor, they were kind enough to waive the Saturday night stay requirement and let me redeem several standard rewards at 20k miles each.
