A friend of mine found a diffeent solution. His TA issued LAX-EZE in A as an open segment and then booked LAX-SCL in F and SCL-EZE in Business. They just issued a handwritten coupon in LAX for the SCL-EZE flight. He also got row 1 (which is the F seat with C service on that route).
I find that if you ask nicely, LAX is quite ameniable to giving away row 1 to F passengers.
Whilst the suggestion of booking the AA codeshare does work, it leads to problems with seat requests on LAN. Basically they cannot see the booking and so refuse requests for seat reservations. May not be a biggie for everyone but as I travel by myself I like the centre seat in row 1.
