Hi,
You should be able to inteline your bags from VS onto BA ( I have done this several times). Just show your BA ticket to the VS check in staff.
When checking in at LHR at BA, remember to show your VS baggage tag.
I do not think it works the otherway if on separate tickets ( ie BA would probably not interline onto VS ( or any non- one world partner airline)
I feel that the connection time at 80mins is a little tight but hopefully as long as the VS flight is on time it should be possible.
