Interesting comments on safety
Having had the honour/honor of assessing the safety records/training/staff of both airlines/AAirlines then I know which I would come down on the side of for that particular section of decision making. In an evacuation you are more likely to get out of the BA aircraft than the AA AAircraft for short haul operations. The long haul operations become slightly more interesting as they do not fly the same types of aircraft on competing routes.
As for changing at LHR, well they do have the honor of being able to take BAA T1 to T3 which is not a same terminal transfer and so on. If you compare what we have to go through to get into the US these days, then there is little to complain about with LHR. Even worse for those of us who do not want to go into the US but just want to transit.
The seats in CE are not that bad, but they are not the same as seats that have to be used for red-eye transcontinentals at night. I suggest that B_S-LHR would be better in NCW than an AA 757 F seat.
The new converter seat styles being trialed on UM and UN will still not get to the AA F seat but what the hell, I am not fat!
