On the Heathrow and Gatwick Airport Movements site, there are a significant number of entries for May 2005 which show a BA22 arriving from Sydney, always at about 2000. And it's always a 777. Going back through the months of 2005, this seems to have been going on at least all year this year, but I haven't been back into the archives.

Now, I'm sure that this is wrong, if only because if you take the aircraft that's said to have come in on a particular day, and trace its movements back over the preceding three or four days, you can see that it's been all sorts of normal places that are incompatible with it having been to Sydney. For example, 25.05.05 has G-YMMK coming in from SYD at 2004. However, the aircraft's actual movements are recorded as:-
22.05.05 1045 PHL (out)
23.05.05 0614 PHL (in)
24.05.05 2010 IAD (in)
24.05.05 2136 ABV (out)
25.05.05 1412 ABV (in)
25.05.05 1900 IAD (out)
(The outbound flight to IAD on 23.05.05 was not recorded.)

Also, there doesn't seem ever to be a corresponding 777 flight to Sydney.

So does anyone have a clue as to what's happening to generate these ACARS messages?

Very odd! Did not know there was a flight BA 22 from Sydney, let alone a 777, let alone a flight coming in a 8pm. As you will know, most flights from Oz either come in around 4-6am or around midday, and all on BA (BA 16 and BA 18)and QF are on 747s and not 777s.

Sounds like a flight of fiction rather than a flight of reality.
