Query about elite qualification criteria for Asiana Club
Because of a likely relocation and changing travel patterns, I'm thinking about switching from UA M+ to OZ Club. I've looked at the Korean, US and UK OZ websites, and all of them consistently indicate that:
- 40,000 miles (from OZ & *A flights) initially required for Gold status
- 100,000 miles (from OZ & *A flights) initially required for Diamond status
I have two questions that perhaps folks in this forum can answer (I couldn't find the answers after a search):
1. The Korean, US and UK websites also consistently exclude a time frame for accruing the miles initially required for elite status. Does that mean once a member accumulates 40,000 and 100,000 lifetime miles, then that member qualifies for Gold and Diamond membership, respectively? Or is there an unpublished rule that members need to accrue these miles within a 12-month period (as in most other FFPs) to qualify for elite status?
2. At least the US website indicates that class-of-service bonuses also count as elite qualifying miles. Does this mean that class-of-service bonuses from *A flights (in addition to OZ flights) also count?
Thanks in advance for your insights! Additionally, feel free to share your experience/perspective on OZ Club versus other *A FFPs.
