Not sure about the new points table, perhaps take a look online. MEL - LAX - DFW - YVR - HKG - MEL was 130,000 on the old table, assuming YVR was the only stopover.

QF miles cannot be used on AS flights, even with an AA codeshare flight # --I tried to use my measly 14K for a 1-way SFO--YVR.

Try alaskaair.com--it is cheap to money-buy a 1-way LAX--YVR: US$135.60 to $187.20. Also try aircanada.com .
