Should I go for BA Silver? In a dilemma.

I've discovered that I've clocked up 525 tier points from WT+ flights which I've stuck into my BA account for the miles rather than the status, when they've seemed superfluous to requalifying for QF Gold. But I now have no more WT+ (or any) real flying planned before my year end at the end of July/beginning of August. So unless I find some time and money to do a tier point run before then, I will remain a BA Blue.

My QF year ends at the end of November. I may or may not have managed to get in one more trip to Oz by then. If I do, and if I play it right, I should just about get over the QF Gold (= OW Sapphire) requalification threshold. But if I don't, then my paid QF Club membership reactivates so that I will get a year of paid access to QF lounges when flying QF and BA lounges when flying BA.

What would really be a waste of money would be to shell out for a pure tier point run now to get BA Silver, then fail to requalify for QF Gold, and then be paying QF for a year's lounge access which I'd be entitled to through BA Silver anyway.

So should I bother, or not?

The only good reason I can think of for bothering is that if I have any more "extra" WT+ flights to put into BA next year, I'll get the tier bonus miles on top of those which I'd earn as BA Blue.

Supplementary question: If I should bother, how should I do 75 tier points, starting from London?

All advice gratefully received - many thanks!
