Well, I just registered for 16001 as well as 16000 in case one works and the other doesn't. The screen afterward said I'm registered (that and three dollars will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks).

I'm sure that delivering a real-time check of eligibility status and saying whether or not the account WILL, in fact, get the bonuses at time of registration is on Continental's programming to-do list. Just as I'm equally sure it isn't anywhere near the top of that list.

In the meantime I'm sure they'll be reminded "But your Website said I was registered!"
