The Virgin and NZ seats are basically identical apart from the colour scheme. NZ licensed the seat design and appears to have played some role in development (having a common shareholder - Singapore Airlines - may have proved a minor influencing factor?). Either way it makes great sense for them to cooperate - development costs are reduced and they do not end up with a standardised, off the shelf product.
The company involved is called Contour Premium Aircraft Seating, based in South Wales. They were also the company behind the NCW seats (according to their website). More available from the following links:
