I wish I read this thread before our flight today! Does anyone know if the policy above is in-fact United policy? Today UA probably lost my wife (Premier 5 years) and me (on-tract for 1P) because of this problem. We did not know what to do, so we are considering leaving UA because their policy today (or lack of policy) was unacceptable to me.

A TED flight from LAS-ORD, bulkhead 1AC Sunday morning. A woman gets 1B and cannot fit between the armrests. She actually sits on the armrests with a seatbelt extension, sitting above me and my wife by at least a foot, but spilling over on both of us by at least 1/3 of each seat. I could not use the armrest or tray table. We are split sideways for almost 4 hours, like bent trees. It was a totally distasteful and annoying flight. Edited to add that it was a fully loaded flight, and fix a typo from trembling fingers)

What could we have done other than demand another flight, if that was even an option? I would appreciate any comments. (yes, I'm still steaming! )
