I once did this (when working for BA and only Y hotline tickets to DXB available) on a 777 and lifted the 2 middle armrests across the 3 seats so I could lie "flat", thus it is (or was) possible. However BA Y seats seem to be quite sculpted so it was very very uncomfortable (unlike a similar experience on VS from LAX which was one of the best nights sleep I had on a plane).
