Friend was telling me AS has had to bus a lot of passengers btwn the various LA area airports in recent months due to schedule irregularities. For example, a number of late evening flights to SNA have been diverted to LAX because they departed too late and were going to miss the arrival curfew at SNA. AS must then arrange for ground transportation for passengers + luggage from LAX to SNA (don't know cost, but can't be trivial). Also, they must bus all the outbound passengers from SNA up to LAX or rebook on other flights. And, I'm sure the inconvenience does not encourage the affected pax to make further bookings on AS.
