It is a promised benefit, that should be reason enough. Another good reason to board first is so I can get my pre-departure beverage if I am in F. If in Y I want to be able to get pillows and/or blankets as there are not enough loaded to go around.

Here is your entire quote:

It contradicts itself. In one line it says first to board, another is says board early.

And do you really think having 4 people in front of you is going to prevent you your warm cup of water or OJ? I sit in first for the seat and possibility of something to eat, no other reason. I don't see what the big deal is and as I stated earlier, if it gets the plane out on time, go for it.
