Sorry, WHQ, but this route is not "brand new" to UA. As all Sh***le fans remember, this route was flown for about six years, 1995-2001 with Shuttle by United B73X equipment. My UA pocket timetable for Sep. - Oct. 01 shows 5 daily UA RTs on this route. Service was frequently delayed into/out of SFO but it was an established UA route. UA has done the same with West Coast service into/out of OAK, expanding, cutting, ramping up, slowing down, now, OAK->LAX is almost all UX.

If we can get some consistency of UA jet service year-to-year in some of these markets, maybe UA can actually build business in these W. Coast markets which have seen good recoveries.
All UA is saying here is that there was no service, and now there is. From a PR perspective, it's all about perception. How many years does a route have to be discontinued before it's "new" in your mind? It's a press release, designed to make everything old look new again.

I'll take an A320 over nothing, any day. If they flew Ted BUR-ORD, I'd be ecstatic. Something's better than nothing, and Ted is better than UX.
