A slap on the wrist is perhaps more becoming than the unlimited detention you suggest? After all, it's reported that she did not say that she had a bomb in her bag; she said "Check good, I might have a bomb in my bag." It appears some TSAer and perhaps a prosecutor have an inability to use common sense and are once again on a power-trip.

If it was certain that this woman (or another) would certainly not have a bomb in her bag, then the TSA would not have to "check good" (sic) at all. It's a reality that anyone's bag, including your own, might have a bomb in it; and that possible conditional event is why the TSA is checking the bag in the first place. Speaking the truth -- i.e., stating a fact -- should not be punishable.
I'm sure most of the world would be grateful that I'm not a judge or even the grand poobah. I'd have all convicted rapists castrated slowly by a rusty needle, shoplifters forced to work for free for the victim's business until twice the value of what was stolen was paid back, and fine smokers who are caught littering their cigarette butts $500 per incident.
