Japan Rail Passes

I'm usually good at figuring things out myself, but I'm not so sure when it comes to figuring out these Japan Railpasses.

I plan to go from NRT to Tokyo, then Tokyo to Nagoya (Expo), the Nagoya to NRT. It looks like the standard JR pass is more expensive from point-to-point. It also appears that the JR East pass, while economical, cannot be used to Nagoya, and none of the other regional passes work either.

So, my conclusion is that my best bet is to just buy point-to-point tickets, as the JR pass is too expensive, and none of the regional passes cover where I want to go. Am I missing something?
