The vision for NEXUS is that it will eventually be double-ended, i.e. use the same card for entering the US and for entering Canada. Enrollment data will be shared and background checks performed in both countries. But NEXUS will not replace INSpass.
INSpass (hand geometry biometric) is in the process of being re-incarnated as CBPpass (Customs and Border Protection-pass, using fingerprint biometric). Pilot program with 2-3 kiosks should be starting soon... somewhere.
