As a gold on both DL and US, I find that I am upgraded more often on US. Most of my DAL flights are DCA-ATL-???. That DCA-ATL flight is a tough one to upgrade in my experience. Given the fact that you want to buy the FC seat and not upgrade into it, upgrade experience probably doesn't matter to you.
