Talking Response to Previous Thread re: Upgrades on Direct Flights

So I started a thread several weeks ago about upgrade on a direct, one-stop flight. After reading previous posts, I realized that in order to have a better chance of upgrades for a direct flight, I needed to book the flights as separate segments. So I did as suggested for this Friday on flights from DCA-CVG-DFW on DL 1147. I cleared from CVG to DFW right on schedule. DCA-CVG is not clearing and delta.com isn't even offerring a first class ticket from DCA-CVG. Can anyone confirm that first class is zeroed out?

And also, for everyone else.....if you are taking a direct, one-stop flight, book the segments separately. It's the same price and it ensures that each flight upgrade will be independent of the other.

And P.S. - my return flights on Sunday are still showing 'V' class availability so they should clear starting at 4:30PM tomorrow.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend.

I have taken the liberty of merging this post into the original thread as there is no reason to start another one on the same topic.
