Of course BA will not want to sacrifice any slots at LHR- this is BA's home base. DL would be fuming if they had to give up slots at ATL as would UA/AA in ORD etc etc.

It must also be remembered that LHR is a 2 runway airport. The busiest and most in demand international airport in the world and it is just 2 runways!! I don't know the exact number elsewhere in Europe but certainly AMS is approx 5 and FRA, CDG are also substantially more than 2.

BA fully embraces proposals to build new runways at LHR which would benefit everybody rather than penalise LHR's main/best customer. Whilst the perrenial stalling persists in getting new runways at LHR, it would be totally unfair to strip BA of it's assets to allow state subsidised carriers to begin services in their place.
