I'm debating between the Marriott and the Residence Inn, also at Crabtree Valley, for a group of us getting together for a family reunion. We need to be in/near Raleigh, but we didn't necessarily want/need to stay downtown.
All opinions welcome!
Some colleagues of mine stayed there recently and said the place was rather worn. I live close by and drive by every day and I will say that it doesn't look all that great. It's in a great location though.
There's a Courtyard near Crabtree (within about a mile of the Marriott) that I'm told is pretty good. Be advised that it is right by the "beltline" (our smaller-scale version of your and DC's Beltway) so noise may be a concern.
Outside the Marriott fold, there is an Embassy Suites next door to the Marriott you asked about that I think is a better choice, and relatively new Homewood Suites on the other side of Crabtree Valley Mall (next to the Courtyard, so the same beltline issues FYI) that I've heard is good.
